Job Description - HGV Class 2 Driver with Stores Duties
Role Overview
We are looking for an HGV Class 2 Driver to join our team in a dual-role position combining driving and stores/warehouse duties. You will be responsible for the safe transportation of materials between company sites, as well as supporting the efficient receipt, storage, movement, and dispatch of goods within our warehouse.
While previous warehouse or stores experience is desirable, full training will be provided on our internal stores procedures and systems.
Key Responsibilities
Transport materials and products safely between company sites using an HGV Class 2 vehicle.
Receive, unload, inspect, and record incoming deliveries.
Check deliveries for accuracy, quality, and any damaged or missing items.
Store goods safely in the correct warehouse locations.
Move stock using manual handling equipment or a forklift truck.
Deliver materials to production areas in line with operational requirements.
Maintain accurate stock records using the company's ERP system.
Carry out stock checks and inventory counts.
Process returns and maintain accurate documentation.
Ensure all warehouse paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
Follow all manual handling procedures and safe working practices.
Handle hazardous materials safely where applicable.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment.
Assist with supplier quality investigations and non-conforming products when required.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency within the stores operation.
Carry out any other reasonable duties as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) licence.
Valid Forklift Truck (FLT) licence.
Previous experience in a driving, warehouse, stores, or logistics environment.
Good numeracy skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
Ability to use computerised stock control or ERP systems.
Flexible approach to work and willingness to support production requirements.
Desirable
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Previous stores or warehouse experience.
Working Hours
The working hours follow the production schedule:
Monday & Tuesday: 6:45 am - 4:45 pm
Wednesday & Thursday: 7:45 am - 4:45 pm
Friday: 7:45 am - 1:00 pm
Salary
£16.00 per hour (approximately), depending on experience.
