About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced HGV Class 2 Lorry Driver based in Ballymena

In this role, you will be responsible for transporting raw materials safely between production sites while ensuring the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and vehicle care. You will work both independently and as part of a transport team, reporting directly to the Transport Manager and working closely with Forepersons and fellow drivers.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely transport raw materials between company sites.
• Complete daily vehicle safety checks, including tyres, lights, oil, and general condition.
• Ensure vehicles are cleaned and disinfected before use.
• Verify all delivery paperwork and destination details before departure.
• Secure loads correctly using locking straps and carry out final load checks.
• Follow all hygiene, food safety, and biosecurity procedures at all times.
• Wear the required PPE and comply with company hygiene standards.
• Drive safely and responsibly, following all road traffic legislation and company procedures.
• Report vehicle defects, maintenance issues, or equipment faults immediately.
• Maintain accurate transport documentation and records.
• Follow company Health & Safety policies and emergency procedures.
• Carry out any other duties required within the transport department.

Essential Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 (C+E) Licence.
• Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph Card.
• Good understanding of vehicle safety and road transport regulations.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude with a strong focus on safety and reliability.

Desirable Experience

• Previous HGV driving experience.
• Experience transporting food or food-related products.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and temperature control requirements.
• Digital Tachograph experience.
• Forklift, Reach Truck, or Electric Pallet Truck licence.
• Experience completing transport documentation.
• Basic vehicle maintenance awareness.

Working Environment

This role involves:

• Long periods of driving between company sites.
• Outdoor work while loading, unloading, and securing vehicles.
• Following strict hygiene and food safety procedures.
• Manual handling associated with securing loads.
