We are currently recruiting a Registered Nurse to join a Pre-Assessment Clinic team in Cork. This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse seeking a day-only, patient-focused role within an acute hospital environment.

About the Role

The Pre-Assessment Clinic Nurse plays a key role in preparing patients for planned procedures and surgeries by ensuring they are clinically assessed, informed, and optimised prior to admission.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments

• Review medical history, medications, and allergies

• Perform baseline observations and clinical screening

• Coordinate pre-assessment tests (bloods, ECGs, swabs, etc.)

• Provide patient education and pre-operative instructions

• Liaise with consultants, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams

• Ensure accurate documentation in line with hospital policies

• Promote patient safety, quality care, and best practice standards

Candidate Requirements

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active NMBI registration

• Experience in acute hospital settings such as:

  • Surgical wards

  • Medical wards

  • Theatre / Recovery

  • Day surgery

  • Pre-assessment (desirable but not essential)

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Good IT and documentation skills

• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team

• Eligibility to work in Ireland (EU passport / Stamp 4 / valid work permission)
