Our client based in Newry, are recruiting for a Sub-contracts Buyer to join their team. As a Sub-contract buyer, you will ensure timely availability on site and budget compliance supporting the maximising of profitability of projects.
The Role:
- Work with a team of subcontract and material buyers
- Develop and implement purchasing procedures
- Maintain and develop successful supplier relationships
- Negotiate effectively with supply chain to ensure best value is obtained.
- Manage and report on budgets and costs to ensure timely decision making
- Maintain appropriate and accurate communication with senior management, Finance team, QS team and site management team.
- Ensure that terms and conditions of appointments align project requirements regarding specifications, guarantees, collateral warranties and insurances.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement function in a Main Contractor organisation
- Responsible for driving strategy and working to deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills
- Results focused and well organised
- Proficient IT skills
- Knowledge of Construction processes
- Knowledge Forms of Contract, Collateral Warranties would be advantageous
Hours of work: Mon to Thurs 8.30am - 5pm, Friday 8.30am - 4pm
Salary: £29K - £30K per annum (based on experience)
