Role: Data Processing & Analysis Officer

Location: Lisburn

Temporary 6 Months

Hours of work:

  • 36.25 hours per week

The Role:

As part of the Data Processing & Analysis Team, the Data Processing & Analysis Officer will support the delivery of an effective, efficient and professional data processing and analysis service for NIFRS and will provide:

  • Responsive data processing and analysis tasks that adhere to Data Governance and national best practice and guidance.
  • Geospatial analysis of internal and external datasets to support NIFRS information needs.
  • Timely, accurate and consistent information to support responses to internal and external requests.

The Data Processing & Analysis Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day data extraction, cleansing, methodology development and analysis to provide high quality data and information for performance management and information requests and in doing so support the delivery of the guiding principle statement, purpose, vision, values and outcomes of NIFRS as outlined overleaf:

Main Duties:

  • As part of the Data Processing & Analysis team support the day-to-day delivery of an effective and efficient, professional digital data processing and analysis service, providing timely, accurate and consistent information.
  • Actively engage with customers of the Data Processing & Analysis Hub to understand their data/information needs; provide advice and guidance on NIFRS data processing and analysis capability; explain any results/ outputs; and, ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Identify and use both internal and external digital sources to collate data in support of NIFRS information needs
  • Develop and record methodologies for digital and geospatial analysis of internal and external datasets to respond to internal and external data/information requests.
  • Carry out the day to day analysis and manipulation of complex and varied data from different databases giving due consideration for the impact of data quality, information governance and UK GDPR.
  • Contribute to the achievement of KPI's for NIFRS.
  • Provide a high level of internal and external customer service including taking ownership of customer queries and complaints and following issues through to completion.
  • Ensure continued and effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the Data Processing & Analysis Advisor as required.
  • Undertake the duties in such a way as to enhance and protect the reputation and public profile of NIFRS.
  • Comply with all NIFRS frameworks, policies and procedures, including but not limited to those relating to legal requirements such as equality, health & safety and information governance.
  • Direct and signpost managers and officers to the appropriate source for issues outside the remit of this post.
  • Undertake project work as directed by the Data Processing & Analysis Advisor using the principles of good project management.
  • Participate as directed in NIFRS recruitment and selection procedures, in line with NIFRS Code of Practice on Recruitment and Selection.
  • Undertake any other duties which may be assigned to meet organisational need and the change agenda and which are reasonably regarded as within the nature of the duties, responsibilities and grade of the post as defined.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Have a Level 4 qualification e.g. Degree or HND, ideally with a research or statistical element
  • Have at least one year's relevant experience working in a statistical analysis/ research environment

OR

  • Possess a Level 3 qualification e.g. A-Levels or HNC,
  • Have at least two year's relevant experience working in a statistical analysis/ research environment

Demonstrate Experience of:

  • An understanding of data processing/analysis and information management processes; an
  • Experience of carrying out research and the ability to interpret, analyse and present data.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure of multiple deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Deliver high quality work with excellent attention to detail
  • A strong customer orientation
  • Possess a full, current UK driving licence Category B which enables the post holder to fulfil the full requirements of the role

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Experience of working in the public sector.
  • Experience working with Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
  • Experience of working with and analysing large complex datasets.
