March 8th marks International Women's Day across the world. International Women's Day is celebrated every year, and the celebration can be dated back to the early 1900s! The IWD organisers describe the day as "a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women... marking a call to action for accelerating gender parity." They outline how "significant activity is witnessed worldwide as groups come together to celebrate women's achievements or rally for women's equality." Organisations of all kinds are invited to take part in International Women's Day celebrations, and within the business world especially, it is an excellent opportunity to recognise the vital work of our female colleagues. This year's International Women's Day theme is "Choose to Challenge", asking us to make change from challenge and create a more fair world. Staffline Recruitment supports the #IWD2021 mission statement; this year, we have asked our team to take a selfie in a piece of purple clothing to symbolise International Women's Day. The colour purple represents justice and dignity, and is instantly recognisable as a symbol of equality on IWD. Staffline has produced the below video, reflecting the core mantra of this year's theme. We invite our colleagues, friends, clients, and candidates to join us in acknowledging International Women's Day and making a positive step towards an equal society for everyone!
