Job description

Our client, a leading transportation company, are looking to hire a Transport Manager to join their expanding team. This is a key role in their day-to-day operations, reporting to the Transport Manager. It is a fully on-site based role. the ideal candidate with have 2+ years of experience in a similar role and have degree in Transport and Logistics or relevant equivalent.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Planning & Coordination

  • Take full ownership of preparing the daily transport plan for assigned customer groups and/or geographical areas in coordination with other planners.

  • Ensure that all transport plans are reviewed for accuracy and optimized for maximum efficiency in terms of driver schedules, truck routes, and equipment usage.

  • Collaborate with fellow planners to manage the allocation and routing of shared resources including trucks, trailers, and other transport equipment.

Communication & Customer Service

  • Liaise closely with Transport Administrators to maintain a high standard of customer service through clear, timely, and accurate communication.

  • Ensure all customer communications, reporting, and documentation are completed and delivered as required.

  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely instructions to drivers regarding daily operations and any special requirements.

Operational Oversight

  • Address and correct any discrepancies or necessary changes in job notes or driver instructions by coordinating with Transport Administrators.

  • Monitor drivers' working hours to maintain balanced workloads throughout the week, conducting weekly reviews every Thursday.

  • Participate in the planning and approval of driver leave to ensure sufficient staffing during critical periods.

  • Support the Transport Administration Team with planning-related tasks as needed.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all special instructions (e.g., site audits) and safety communications are shared with drivers promptly.

  • Escalate planning-related concerns to the Transport Manager or Operations Manager without delay.

  • Report any Health & Safety or HR-related issues to the Transport Manager or SHEQ Manager as appropriate.

Continuous Improvement

  • Proactively seek and implement opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency within planning operations.

  • Partner with the Transport Manager and/or Operations Manager to identify and track key performance metrics for the planning function.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum 2 year's experience in a similar role

- Degree in Transport and Logistics or relevant equivalent.

- Analytical thinking and problem solving skills

- Good communicator with the ability to work under pressure and delivered to deadlines

- Team player with strong ability to work on their own initiative

- Fluent written and spoken, another EU language would be an advantage
