Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Position: Full Time

Department: Commercial

Salary: DOE

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial aspects of projects, ensuring delivery within cost, quality, and time targets. The role involves managing budgets, subcontract accounts, cashflows, and providing commercial guidance. Ideal candidates will have a BSc in Quantity Surveying and experience with contract management and dispute resolution.

MAIN TASKS IN LINE WITH JOB TITLE

  • Lead the commercial aspects of the project, ensuring delivery in line with cost, quality, and time targets.
  • Provide accurate and timely commercial reports to management, ensuring the contract meets commercial objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation and payment of sub-contract applications and ensure compliance with client payment dates.
  • Prepare and regularly update Project Cashflows, both prior to commencement and as works progress.
  • Provide guidance on commercial and contractual matters, ensuring accuracy in tendering information and scope protection.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure accurate monthly Cost Value Reports (CVR) are prepared and reviewed for margin recovery.
  • Review contractual correspondence and ensure that all commercial data is accurate and up to date at site level.
  • Build strong relationships with the Project Contracts Manager and support operational teams in customer relations.
  • Manage subcontract accounts, including procurement, payments, variations, and final accounts.
  • Lead, coach, and advise junior QS teams and direct reports, while ensuring adherence to company policies and safety standards.

Essential:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
  • Working towards RICS qualification or equivalent chartered qualification
  • The ability to manage others within a project team.
  • Experience in managing full functionality and contract practice. Management the core change control process under such contract conditions as the JCT provisions, NEC etc.
  • Experience of supply chain engagement including ITT preparation, analysis negotiation and selection assessment to place orders.
  • A thorough understanding of Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), preparation, detailed forecasting principles and monthly reporting.
  • Negotiation and settlement of disputes and accounts relating both to customers and suppliers.
  • Experience of dispute resolution techniques, namely, conciliation, adjudication, mediation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment contributing across a business unit or area.
  • Good management skills, with the ability to motivate self and colleagues to achieve high standards of compliance, and effective liaison with key clients.
