Staffline are working in partnership with a specialist manufacturer of mobility lift solutions based in Carrickfergus, who are seeking a Production Manager to join their team and to lead their manufacturing operations

Salary: £35k-£40k dependant on experience

Job Role and Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily production activities, ensuring timely delivery of product to specification and quality standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of production supervisors, technicians, and assembly staff.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, resource plans, and workflow optimisations.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, particularly in relation to mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Collaborate with design, quality, installation and service teams to resolve production issues and support product development.
  • Monitor and report on key production metrics (e.g., output, efficiency, downtime, quality).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and 5S principles.
  • Manage inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to ensure material availability.
  • Support training and development of production staff to maintain a skilled and motivated workforce.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role in a light engineering or mechanical/electromechanical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, ideally with experience managing 50+ staff.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical assembly, electrical systems, and safety-critical manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with mobility aids, lifting equipment, or similar regulated products is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in production planning tools and ERP systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field (preferred).

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in manufacturing products for the healthcare or accessibility sector.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, CE/UKCA marking, and relevant safety standards (e.g., EN 81-41).
  • Training in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
