Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to oversee the operations of our client's manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing production within a wood manufacturing or furniture company. This is a pivotal role within the company, requiring a balance of hands-on leadership on the factory floor as well as strategic oversight at the senior management level. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient production of high-quality bespoke furniture while driving innovation and maintaining our client's high standards of craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Oversight:
    • Manage the daily operations of the production facility, ensuring efficient workflows and high-quality output in the manufacture of bespoke furniture and cabinetry.
    • Supervise a skilled team, providing leadership and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
    • Monitor inventory levels and ensure timely procurement of raw materials, specifically wood and other materials integral to our client's bespoke creations.
    • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  2. Quality Control:
    • Uphold our client's reputation for precision and quality by ensuring that all products meet the highest standards.
    • Collaborate closely with the design and production teams to ensure the finished products align with client specifications and expectations.
    • Conduct regular inspections and audits of both materials and finished products to ensure consistency in craftsmanship.
  3. Strategic Leadership:
    • Participate actively in senior management discussions, providing insights into production timelines, capacity, and resource planning.
    • Work with cross-functional teams, including design and sales, to ensure production schedules align with client demands and business objectives.
    • Contribute to the company's growth strategy by identifying opportunities for process improvements and optimising production methods.
  4. Team Management:
    • Lead, motivate, and develop a team of skilled craftsmen and production workers, encouraging a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
    • Oversee the recruitment and performance management of production staff, ensuring the team is capable and aligned with company values.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to enhance the team's skill sets, particularly in advanced woodworking techniques and custom cabinetry.
  5. Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify and implement initiatives that drive continuous improvement in production processes, reducing waste and enhancing efficiency.
    • Stay informed on the latest trends, tools, and technologies in the woodworking and furniture manufacturing industry to keep our client competitive and innovative.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Proven experience in a production management role, ideally within the furniture or wood manufacturing industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of woodworking processes, materials, and quality control, particularly in bespoke cabinetry and furniture.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and inspire a team while collaborating effectively with senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and a proven ability to balance hands-on management with strategic oversight.
  • A proactive problem-solving approach and a passion for continuous improvement in production efficiency.
  • A relevant qualification in manufacturing, production, or business management is highly desirable.
