About Our Client -
Our Client is a respected Irish law firm providing a broad range of legal services to private and commercial clients. We are currently seeking a highly organised and experienced Legal Bookkeeper to join their accounts team.
This is a vital position ensuring compliance with Law Society of Ireland Accounting Regulations and maintaining the financial integrity of the practice.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for all day-to-day bookkeeping duties within the firm, including management of client and office accounts, bank reconciliations, and financial compliance. This role requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, and an excellent understanding of legal financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of client and office transactions in compliance with Law Society regulations
- Process receipts, payments, and electronic funds transfers, ensuring full trace-ability
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for all accounts
- Monitor client account balances, identifying residuals and ensuring funds are properly allocated
- Prepare and assist with the submission of VAT returns and Revenue reporting
- Support the preparation of annual Accountant's Reports for Law Society inspections
- Assist with billing and credit control, and liaise with solicitors regarding WIP and disbursements
- Provide financial reporting to partners and practice management as required
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors to ensure compliance and readiness for annual reviews
Key Requirements
✅ Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in legal bookkeeping within an Irish law firm
✅ In-depth knowledge of Law Society of Ireland Accounting Regulations
✅ Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g. Keyhouse, LEAP, Redbrick, or similar)
✅ Strong IT and Excel skills; highly accurate with numbers and data entry
✅ Excellent organisational and time management abilities
✅ Discretion and confidentiality when handling client and financial information
✅ Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications
- ILFM qualification or Accounting Technician (ATI) certification
- Experience supporting Revenue audits or Law Society inspections
- Familiarity with online banking platforms and digital payment processing
