Our Perfect Worker

Our ideal Food Production Operative will have a basic understanding of English, both written and verbal, in order to communicate with other workers. They will also need to be reliable, punctual and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Job Purpose: To improve site quality performance through lab based product testing, information collection and control, inspection and auditing, liaison with external accreditation bodies and quality improvement projects.

Key Tasks

Laboratory Testing & Control

1. 1. Conduct chemical analysis and microbiological testing (see attached).
   2. Collate and trend data to identify issues
   3. Conduct water testing and environmental monitoring
   4. Complete equipment calibration and minor technical repairs
   5. Maintain and develop all lab based health & safety procedures and COSHH risk assessments
   6. Input and communicate test results
   7. Control laboratory consumables to budget with a cost reduction focus
   8. Taste Panels

Development

1. 9. Carry out development projects to deliver improvement and to increase personal experience, knowledge and skills.
   10. Train placement students as required
   11. All other reasonable tasks as a member of an inter dependent team

Routine Testing

Cheese

1. Milk intake samples for testing
2. Butter fat analysis and standardisation
3. Butter fat analysis and standardization of cheese milk
4. Chemical & physical analysis of whey concentrate
5. Check gas composition of retail packs on line, and do leak test
6. Collate & prepare samples for micro testing by GLC

Services

1. Daily testing of process water
2. Daily testing of effluent samples
3. Daily Charm test of whey cream & cheese milk
4. Daily testing of Raw milk, Past, & Tanker wash detergents
5. Daily testing of farmer's milk samples for antibiotics
6. Boiler water testing 2x week
7. Cooling tower water every fortnight
8. Glycol testing every week
9. Chemical & physical analysis of each tonne of CMR
10. Confirmation of antibiotics / taste / acidities of incoming tanker milk
11. Series of monthly pathogen tests
12. CMR environmental swabs
13. Preparation of production samples for Group Technical Centre
14. Any other duties as required by management
