Role Overview

Staffline Recruitment is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Hygiene Operative to join a dynamic team within a food manufacturing environment. The primary purpose of this role is to maintain the factory to the highest hygiene and cleanliness standards, exceeding all food safety regulations and customer expectations. The role is multi-skilled and essential to ensuring legal and company hygiene compliance across the site.


Working hours:

Mon-Thu: 07:00-15:30, Friday: 07:00-15:00

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled cleaning of all plant, utensils, machinery, and facility areas in accordance with cleaning instructions

  • Perform general high- and low-level cleaning across the site

  • Follow COSHH procedures and ensure correct use of chemicals

  • Conduct deep cleaning of production areas

  • Perform post-cleaning checks and complete associated documentation accurately

  • Maintain cleaning equipment and report faults to supervisors

  • Ensure safe waste disposal in line with environmental policies

  • Manage stock of cleaning supplies

  • Comply with all internal policies, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook

  • Ensure personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn and in working order

  • Maintain good housekeeping standards across all areas

  • Participate in mandatory site training covering hygiene, safety, and environmental practices

  • Collaborate effectively with team members to support production hygiene

  • Uphold food safety, product quality, and integrity at all times


Essential Requirements

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and high cleaning standards

  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Good communication and teamwork skills

  • Willingness to learn and follow training, including health & safety, COSHH, and food safety procedures

  • Basic literacy and numeracy to understand cleaning instructions and complete documentation


Desirable Qualifications (Preferred but Not Essential)

  • Previous experience in hygiene or cleaning roles, particularly in food manufacturing

  • COSHH awareness or training

  • Level 2 Food Safety qualification

  • Experience with chemical cleaning procedures
