Job description

Finance Officer required for Fivemiletown area

Hours: 22.5 hours per week / 3 days, 9am - 5pm

Salary: £13.85ph (weekly paid)

Overseeing the financial management of the organisation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and accountability across all grants and funding streams.

Providing essential support in budgeting, payroll, reporting, and working with external accountants, enabling the organisation to deliver its services effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate and timely records.
  • Monitor expenditure across grants and funding streams, ensuring spending aligns with funder requirements.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, including budget vs actual reporting.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and funding applications.
  • Administer payroll and pension processes, ensuring compliance and accurate record-keeping.
  • Maintain and update financial spreadsheets; ensure reporting is consistent, transparent, and auditable.
  • Support year-end accounts preparation and liaise with auditors.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, process invoices, and ensure efficient supplier payments.
  • Advise on and strengthen financial controls and policies in line with best practice.
  • Work closely with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees on financial planning and monitoring.
  • Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and funders to provide financial information as required.
  • Provide clear, accessible financial reports for the Board of Trustees.
  • Contribute to the effective governance of the organisation, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and funder requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection standards.
  • Undertake training and professional development as required.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties relevant to the post as required by the Chief Executive.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience in a finance role (preferably in the charity or not-for-profit sector).
  • Strong knowledge of grant management and restricted funds.
  • Confident in Excel and financial reporting.
  • Experience with payroll administration.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of charity finance regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Experience of working with external auditors and funders.
  • Understanding of Sage/Xero/QuickBooks or similar accounting systems.
