Job Purpose

The General Operative will support the manufacture and assembly of automotive trim components, ensuring products are produced to the required quality, safety, and productivity standards. The role involves hands-on production work, following standard operating procedures, and contributing to continuous improvement within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Assembly

• Assemble automotive trim components in line with work instructions and production schedules
• Operate basic manufacturing machinery and hand tools safely and efficiently
• Load and unload parts and materials as required
• Carry out visual and basic quality checks on finished and in-process products
• Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards

Quality & Compliance

• Follow all quality procedures, standards, and inspection requirements
• Identify, report, and help resolve defects or non-conforming products
• Maintain accurate production and quality records where required

Health, Safety & Environment

• Comply with all health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly at all times
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area (5S standards)
• Report hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly

Teamwork & Communication

• Work effectively as part of a production team
• Communicate clearly with supervisors and colleagues regarding production issues
• Support training of new or temporary team members when required

Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
• Suggest improvements to processes, quality, safety, or efficiency

Skills & Competencies

Essential

• Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Basic manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team
• Willingness to work shifts and overtime as required
