The Role: Responsible for leading, overseeing, and optimising all warehouse operations (including the Sample Department) and logistics activities to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective storage, distribution. Transportation of goods while maintaining a strong customer service focus and ensuring the highest standards of delivery performance.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Participate in SMT management meetings, using operational knowledge and data to inform decision-making and contribute to achieving the company's strategic goals
- Develop and implement warehouse and logistics strategies aligning with company goals.
- Communicate goals with team, setting individual and team targets to ensure achievement
- Propose, plan and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and analyse logistics needs, trends, and best practices to stay competitive.
- Drive change management initiatives to modernise operations and integrate digital tool
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations, including receiving, warehousing, inventory control, order fulfilment, and shipping.
- Liaise with the Inventory Manager to implement best practices for stock accuracy, rotation, and damage minimisation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient warehouse environment, ensuring adherence to safe systems and methods of work.
- Implement lean methodologies to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance service delivery
- Engage proactively with key internal and external stakeholders including Sales, Customer Service, Procurement, and transport partners to ensure smooth coordination, timely communication, and high service standards.
- Work closely with the Customer Service team to ensure seamless communication on order status, delivery timelines, and issue resolution, maintaining a customer-first approach in all logistics operations.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, mentor and develop warehouse team, sample department and logistics personnel.
- Provide regular feedback, complete performance reviews, set goals, and support professional growth.
- Foster a positive team culture focused on continuous improvement and accountability and company values.
- Ensure the team structure, skills, and staffing levels support productivity targets and operational demands.
- Drive high performance through clear KPIs, consistent standards, and effective resource planning.
- Build succession strength by identifying talent, developing skills, and cross-training across functions.
Inventory & Cost Control
- Manage inventory levels in conjunction with Inventory Manager to ensure stock availability while minimising holding costs.
- Monitor and manage budgets for warehouse, sample department and logistics operations.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with third-party vendors, carriers, and suppliers.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards promoting a culture of safety implementing preventative measures to protect the well-being of all employees and stakeholders.
- Leading with the implementation of all H&S and compliance liaising with H&S consultant in maintaining safe work areas including setting H&S objectives for your area of work
- Implement quality control measures to maintain the integrity and accuracy of orders
- Conduct audits and risk assessments to continuously improve quality and safety standards.
Reporting & Analytics
- Track, analyse, and report key performance metrics, including order accuracy, on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and other KPIs.
- Use data trends to identify root causes, optimise workflows, and support decision-making at both operational and strategic levels.
- Prepare and present performance reports to the Senior Management Team, highlighting progress, risks, and improvement actions.
- Support a culture of performance excellence by sharing insights with teams, linking individual and departmental metrics to company objectives
Essential Requirements:
- Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
- Or 5 years' experience in warehouse, logistics, or supply chain management including contributing at SMT level.
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working closely with Customer Service or Sales functions to enhance the end-to-end customer experience.
- Proven ability to interpret and use data to improve operational performance and inform strategic planning.

Hours: Mon - Fri 9am - 5.30pm
Salary: £45k - £55K (Based on experience)
