Job description

Staffline Recruitment are seeking an immediate start for a technician working within our client's nursing and sport school. This will be a full time/temporary position and will involve the successful candidate to preform a range of routine technical or practical tasks and understand and carry out established technical practices and procedures.

Key Duties:

  • To support the teaching and research functions through the provision, preparation and maintenance of appropriate stock, materials, equipment and services.
  • Undertake the operation, calibration and maintenance of equipment and infrastructure as directed.
  • provide user support- including assisting with inductions, basic front line support to students and staff, supporting the delivery of practical based teaching or research activities with appropriate supervision.
  • To maintain and undertake routine servicing of a range of devices used in the service delivery, as directed.
  • Follow a clear brief to set up and prepare basic equipment and work areas- following health and safety procedures.
  • Assist with conducting tests or experiments, following clear guidelines.
  • Inputting orders onto procurement system.
  • Work on a rota/overtime to cover weekend and public holidays as required.

What you will need:

  • Four GCSE's or equivalent to include English Language, Maths and Science (Biology/Chemistry)
  • Evidence of ability to understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Evidence of practical experience of working in a laboratory, clinical or health care environment.
  • Evidence of having maintained and updated records.
  • Knowledge and understanding of H&S requirements eg Manual Handling, COSHH and Risk Assessment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding or laboratory methodologies and basic scientific principles.
  • Evidence of competency in the use of computer software programmes such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Access.
  • Evidence of good oral and written communication skills required for liaising with members of a bigger multi-disciplinary team.
  • Evidence of ability work in a team.
  • Flexibility with regard to duties, travel and hours of work in order to meet the needs of the post.
  • Willingness to undertake training as required.
