Job Title: Communications Specialist (Executive Officer Level), An Garda Síochána

Our client the An Garda Síochána are currently looking for Communication specialists to join their organisation. The Office of Corporate Communications have a number of Executive Officer Roles based in three locations Dublin, Cork City (Southern Region) & Galway (North Western Region).



Position 1: Garda Communications Coordinator - Dublin
The Garda Communications Coordinator - Dublin is a shift pattern position and carries a 16.667% shift allowance. This position is based in the Garda Press Office, Garda Headquarters. Candidates in this position will be required to work a standard 28-day roster with a three-shift system:

  • Early Tour: 7am - 3pm
  • Day Tour: 9am - 5pm
  • Late Tour: 3pm - 11pm

Including two weekends per month



Position 2: Garda Regional Communications Coordinator - Southern Region & North Western Region.
The Garda Regional Communications Coordinator roles will be based in one of our Regional Headquarters (Southern Region, Cork or North Western Region, Galway), or other agreed locations within the specified regions. The post will operate standard office hours. Candidates must be in a position to travel to different locations within the region, or as required for the position.

Working to the Garda Press Officer the Regional Communications Coordinator will be based in the relevant region and will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies to promote good work and highlight crime prevention advice in that region.

They will also deal with day-to-day media queries relating to their region to ensure a high quality professional response, be responsible for supporting the development of social media activity in their region and helping to develop public awareness campaigns relating to key crimes occurring in their region.



Position 3: Garda Corporate Communications Unit - Dublin
The Corporate Communications Unit is responsible for An Garda Síochána's digital and social media presence, the Garda website, public awareness campaigns, Crime call TV programme, and corporate reports, most particularly the Annual Report.

An Garda Síochána's award-winning social media strategy has seen to develop the largest social media following in the public sector of over 2million. It is an important channel for us to inform and engage with the public, particularly in emergency and crisis situation. The Corporate Communications Unit has also run a number of significant public information campaigns across multiple media channels in areas such as burglary and assaults that has helped reduce crime rates and protect the public. The post will operate standard office hours. Candidates must be in a position to travel to different locations within the region, or as required for the position.



Position 4: Garda Internal Communications Unit - Dublin
The Internal Communications Unit is tasked with communicating with all personnel within An Garda Síochána. The work of Internal Communications is to ensure that all personnel are communicated with regularly and transparently about what's happening in the organisation. The post will operate standard office hours. Candidates must be in a position to travel to different locations within the region, or as required.
