Care Assistant/ Support Workers


Care type:
Disabilities, Autistic Spectrum Disorder and complex needs.

Purpose of the Job:
As part of the caring team, you will help create and maintain a caring and safe environment where the personal care and social needs of the residents are fulfilled.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
£11.63 per hour- £15.85
(Enhanced rate for additional hours)

Hours of Work:
Part Time/ Full Time Positions available (24, 36 hours per week) Permanent.
Shifts are on a rotational basis and are typically 8am-8pm, 3 days per week, with one full weekend off in three.


  • Annual Leave: 5.6 weeks in each leave year (inclusive of public and bank holidays), increasing with length of service, up to 33 days per year.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all work is service user-focused, upholding respect, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, independence, and choice.
  • Orientate new service users to the residential scheme and the local community.
  • Deliver individual support programs, including social and domestic guidance, personal hygiene, and community living skills.
  • Assist senior staff with the assessment of service users' needs.
  • Report any changes or concerns about service users to the line manager.
  • Participate in monitoring and reviewing service users' skills and needs.
  • Establish goals with service users to ensure effective use of their resources.
  • Support the physical and personal needs of service users.
  • Ensure medication is managed via Medication Policy.
  • Ensure service users' opinions and suggestions are heard and their personal problems addressed sensitively.


  • Maintain daily records of work within Service User files and other required records.
  • Manage Service User monies and monitor petty cash expenditure as applicable.
  • Follow and practice Cedar Foundation's Policies and Procedures.

Internal Processes:

  • Comply with Health and Safety Policy.
  • Conduct all activities safely for oneself and others.
  • Report the need for repairs or maintenance to the appropriate agency/individual.
  • Participate in cleaning to maintain hygienic standards.


  • Perform other duties as appropriate.
  • Work within the rota system to meet service needs.
  • Be available to work evenings and weekends as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Effective verbal and written communication to include numeracy skills
  • 1 year caring experience
  • Working knowledge of the needs of people with learning disabilities
  • Demonstratable understanding and knowledge on behaviours that challenge
