Accounts Technician / Part Qualified Accountant

Job Title: Accounts Technician / Part Qualified Accountant

Location: Rathkeale

Reports to: Finance Manager


Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounts Technician / Part Qualified Accountant to join our clients finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the finance department in various accounting tasks, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and assisting with financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Record Keeping:

    • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation.
    • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions.
    • Reconcile bank statements and financial records.
  2. Financial Reporting:

    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget vs. actual expenditure and report variances.
  4. Audit and Compliance:

    • Assist with internal and external audits.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of financial legislation and best practices.
  5. Payroll Processing:

    • Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll.
    • Ensure payroll records are accurate and up to date.
  6. Taxation:

    • Assist in the preparation of tax returns and other tax-related documents.
    • Stay informed about changes in tax regulations and ensure compliance.
  7. Financial Analysis:

    • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
  8. System and Process Improvement:

    • Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial systems and processes.
    • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and improvements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field desirable.
    • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) desirable.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within a finance department.
    • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and MS Excel.
  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
